About Me
My name’s Matt, and I’m an artist and children's book illustrator from Portland, Oregon. I’m the illustrator of the picture books Cut!, written by CE Winters (Greenwillow/Harper Collins), and My Cat Does Ballet, written by Robert Heidbreder (Atheneum/Simon & Schuster), as well as the upcoming Cosmic Collisions books by Dr. Marc Kuchner (Candlewick/MIT Press). My paintings and drawings have been exhibited at Nucleus and Nucleus House galleries in Portland, both in solo and group exhibitions, and I was awarded the Regional Arts and Culture Council‘s Catalyst grant in 2020. I received a degree in art from the University of Oregon in 2015, and worked as a UX designer before switching focus to book illustration and fine art.
Represented by Chad W. Beckerman (chad@catagencyinc.com) at The CAT Agency for book illustration work.
Some groups I’ve worked with: Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Candlewick Press, MIT Kids, Penguin Random House, Highlights magazine, Oxford University Press, Nucleus Portland gallery
